Gray Creek is a 5.4-mile out-and-back hike in the Mt. Rose Wilderness, part of the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit in Nevada. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail lies within designated wilderness. The route starts at about 9,417 feet and reaches a high point of 9,417 feet, with a total climb of 750 feet and a total descent of 750 feet. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.14 miles in, with a grade of 13 percent. The trail is natural-surfaced, and bikes are not allowed. The hike is rated hard. Plan for a full day, with the high point at the start and the return trip mirroring the climb. Gray Lake Loop, a mountain biking route, is about 0.4 miles away, and Rose Knob Peak is about 0.5 miles away. Climbers can find Butterscotch Slab aka Trippy #5 about 2 miles off, and Mt. Rose Campground is about 3.3 miles away.
