Butterscotch Slab, also known as Trippy #5, is a bouldering area in Nevada's Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Main Rock and Trippy Rock each about 0.1 mile away. The area is a bouldering destination, with five routes all rated on the V scale. The grades run from V1 to V4, and the names are as colorful as the climbing. Definitely not butterscotch is the easiest at V1, and Tripping Out aka Probably not butter is V3. The hardest is Probably Just Scotch at V4. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Incline Village show July and August highs around 76°F with lows near 50°F. That station sits about 1,200 feet lower than the slab, so temperatures on the rock run cooler. The Lunar hike is 0.8 mile away, and the Incline Flume Trail is 0.9 mile away. Mt.
