Goni - 224 is an easy, short out-and-back hike in Nevada's Sierra Front Field Office, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The trail is just under a mile long and rises about 150 feet from a start point near 5,620 feet, with a total climb of about 375 feet and a high point around 5,752 feet. The route is steady, with the steepest stretch at about 0.4 miles in, where the grade reaches about 12 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Virginia City show June highs around 74°F and September highs around 74°F, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and regular snow days. The Goni - 224 Connector for mountain biking sits just 0.1 mile away, and Deadman's Creek Trail and Prospect Rd are both about 0.8 mile off. Washoe Boulders, a climbing area, is about 1.2 miles away.
