Franktown Creek Road is a hard hike in Nevada's Carson Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, about 5 miles from Carson City. The route is an out-and-back that climbs from roughly 5,600 feet to about 7,760 feet, with a total gain of 2,883 feet over 10.4 miles. The steepest stretch comes at about 1.9 miles in, where the grade reaches 29 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Dagget Pass weather station, about 16 miles away, show July highs near 75°F with lows around 49°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. County Route 270 and Hobart Road both start within a third of a mile. Washoe Lake State Park Campground is about 2.6 miles away, and the Carson City Area climbing area is about 3 miles off.
