Baldy Green is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, on the Carson Ranger District. The route is about a mile long, and it rises roughly 450 feet from a low point of 5,380 feet to a high of 5,559 feet. The climb is rolling, and the steepest stretch, at 16%, comes near the beginning. The trail is close to Carson City, which makes it an easy addition to a day spent exploring the area. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Carson City show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 81°F. That station sits about 800 feet lower than the hike's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The Carson City Area climbing area is about 1.4 miles away, and the Carson Ranger District Office is about 3.2 miles out. Washoe Lake State Park Campground is about 4.2 miles away, and the Dinosaur Rock climbing area is about 4.6 miles away.
