Wampoo is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Three Rivers Ranger District of Montana's Kootenai National Forest, about 3.9 miles long with an elevation gain of 1,124 feet. The trail starts and ends at the Wampoo/Newton TH 209 parking area, and the route rises from a low point of about 4,447 feet to a high of about 5,628 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows bikes, so it works for hikers and riders alike. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from May 1 through November 30. Tepee Mountain and Newton Gulch are both about 2.3 miles away, and Pine is about 2.5 miles off. For an overnight stay, Yaak Falls Campground sits about 3.3 miles from the trail.
