Surveyor Lake is an easy hike of about 0.8 miles in the Ninemile Ranger District of Lolo National Forest in western Montana, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a total elevation gain of about 92 feet, from a low point of roughly 5,708 feet to a high of about 5,961 feet. The route is short and gentle, with a natural surface and no steep sections. Bikes are allowed, so it works for hikers and riders alike. For more time on foot, Schley Mountain lies about 3 miles away, and Indian Ridge and Cedar Peak-Straight Peak are each about 4.3 miles off. Paddlers can head to South Fork Fish Creek, about 4.8 miles away.
