Cedar Peak-Straight Peak is a hard out-and-back hike in Montana's Lolo National Forest, within the Ninemile Ranger District. The trail is 18 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 3,161 feet, and it rises from a low point of about 3,955 feet to a high of 7,438 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The climb is a long one, and the high point makes this a serious objective for anyone heading out. Indian Ridge lies just 0.1 mile away, and Indian Creek is under a mile off. Schley Mountain is about 1.4 miles away, and Clearwater Crossing Campground is roughly 3 miles out, making it a natural base for an overnight stay.
