Silver Dollar is a 7.9-mile out-and-back hike in the Libby Ranger District of Montana's Kootenai National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from a low point of 3,663 feet to a high of 4,667 feet, a climb of 1,250 feet one way, and is rated moderate. The route is natural-surfaced and open to both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The trailhead is Lake Creek TH 656, and the trip runs from May through November. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Libby show July and August highs around 78°F with lows near 40°F and only about six wet days a month. That station sits roughly 1,200 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. Lake Creek Campground and the Fourth of July mountain biking trail are both within a mile. The Lake Creek hike and the Silver Butte Fisher River paddling route are a little farther out.
