Green Gulch is a hard hike in the Rocky Mountain Ranger District of Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Montana, about 13 miles long with a one-way elevation gain of 2,135 feet. The trail starts at the Green Gulch Trailhead, which is open year-round, and it is a natural-surface out-and-back route that rises from a low point of about 5,890 feet to a high point of about 7,137 feet. The trail is not accessible, and horses are allowed. It is a long, steep climb, so plan on a full day and bring supplies for the whole trip. Green Gulch Dispersed Camp Campground and Headquarters Creek are both about 1.5 miles away. Mill Falls Campground is about 1.6 miles off, and the Tears of a Clown climbing area is about 3.6 miles away.
