Eldridge is a hard hike on the Forest Service land of the Hebgen Lake Ranger District in Montana's Custer Gallatin National Forest. The trail is about 17 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 1,872 feet. It is an out-and-back route, starting and ending at the low point of 6,998 feet and reaching a high of 9,507 feet. The trail surface is natural, and the route is open to horses, so riders can bring their mounts along. The trail sits in a cluster of outdoor destinations. Wapiti Cabin and Taylor Creek are both about 1.9 miles away, and the Wapiti and Little Wapiti hikes are within 3 miles.
