Warner Hill

Warner Hill is a summit in western Massachusetts within the Appalachian National Scenic Trail corridor, about 6 miles from Pittsfield. It is a hill on the long-distance footpath's Massachusetts section, a natural stop for anyone exploring the trail's lands outside the city. Summer brings the mildest weather. Typical July averages at the nearby Pittsfield airport weather station run a high of 79°F and a low of 58°F. That station sits well below the summit, so temperatures up top run cooler. Alerts posted for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail as of October 2026 cover the entire trail rather than this hill. They include black bear activity near McAfee Knob in Virginia and a list of trail closures following Hurricane Helene. Paddlers can head to the East Branch Housatonic River, about 2.3 miles away. Hikers have the Appalachian Trail and the Aqueduct Trail, both roughly 2.6 miles off. Pontoosuc Lake, about 7.3 miles away, offers lake fishing.
