Bones is a short, hard mountain biking route in Massachusetts, about 2 miles from the town of Essex Falls. It is an out-and-back ride of roughly half a mile, with a front-loaded climb that peaks at 72 feet and drops back to 62 feet. The route is rated hard, and the steepest stretch comes within the first 0.07 miles, with a grade of about 2 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Beverly show July highs around 80°F with lows near 60°F, while winter brings highs in the upper 30s and a few snowy days a month from December through February. The TR Maple Swamp Connector and the Tr Maple Swamp hike both sit about 0.3 miles away, and the Arrow and Dug Hill Trail mountain biking routes are each about 0.4 miles off.
