Persepolis is a climbing area in Kentucky's Muir Valley Nature Preserve, managed by a non-governmental organization. It sits among several other climbing areas, including Bibliothek, Animal Crackers Wall and The Boneyard, all within about a tenth of a mile. The preserve's climbing is all sport, with five routes ranging from 5.11b to 5.13a. The hardest is Zendebad at 5.13a, and the easiest is Ferdowsi at 5.11b. Kipp Trummel first climbed most of them in 2007, and Ray Ellington did Zendebad. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Beattyville show May highs around 75°F and October highs around 69°F, with summer highs in the low 80s. Nearby, Cliff Trail #206 and KOOMER RIDGE offer hiking within about 4 miles, and Miguel's Campsite is about 4.4 miles away. Paddlers can reach the Middle Fork Red River about 5 miles off.
