Castle Rock - South Face is a climbing area in Castle Rocks State Park in Idaho, managed by State Park and Recreation. It sits among several other climbing areas in the park, and the surrounding rock offers a range of routes for climbers of different styles and grades. The climbing here runs from about 5.4 up to 5.12+, with sport and trad routes each accounting for eight of the 17 routes listed. Among the named climbs are Tiny Time (5.4, trad), Big Time (5.7, sport) and Imagine Wagons (5.12+, trad). High Road is a mixed route at 5.11a. The most comfortable months for a visit tend to be late spring and early fall, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 65°F in May and 74°F in September. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the park, so temperatures at the rock run a little cooler. Nearby, Castle Rock - East Face and The Crack House are both about 0.1 mile away.
