Yellowbelly Trail is a hard hike in Idaho's Sawtooth Wilderness, part of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area within the Sawtooth National Forest. The nearest town is Obsidian, about 10 miles away. The trail is an out-and-back route of about 16 miles, with a one-way climb of roughly 1,200 feet from a low point near 6,940 feet to a high point of about 8,439 feet. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. The trail lies within designated wilderness, so plan for a backcountry experience. The Alice Lake - Redfish Lake Trail starts about half a mile away, and Edith Lake is about a mile off. For an overnight base, Pettit Lake Campground is about 5 miles away, and North Shore Campground is about 6 miles away.
