Yeaman Creek is a hard hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Palisades Ranger District. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 5,420 feet to 8,150 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,742 feet over a distance of about 8.5 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. That makes it a flexible option for a longer trip with gear in tow. The high point of 8,150 feet sits at the top of the climb, and the route is rated hard, so plan on a full day. The Calamity Cutoff hike starts about a mile away, and the Riverside Park Campground & Day Use Area and the Calamity campground are both within about 2 miles. Climbers can find the Palisades Creek climbing area roughly 2.7 miles off.
