Current Creek is an easy out-and-back hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, on the Palisades Ranger District. The trail is about 2.7 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 961 feet, taking you from a low point of about 5,779 feet to a high of about 6,745 feet. The route is on natural surface, and the Forest Service allows both horses and bikes. The trail is open year-round, and the nearest town is Swan Valley, about 11 miles away. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Swan Valley show July highs around 85°F with lows near 46°F, and September cools to highs around 75°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. Nearby, Bear Creek By-Pass is about half a mile away and Muddy Creek is about 0.7 miles away.
