Upper Tie Canyon is a moderate hike in the Palisades Ranger District of Caribou-Targhee National Forest in Idaho, about 5.5 miles from the town of Cedron. It is an out-and-back route of roughly 4.2 miles, with a one-way climb of about 1,200 feet from a low point near 6,258 feet to a high point near 7,496 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and open to both horses and bikes, according to the USDA Forest Service's trail records. Plan for an elevation gain of about 1,200 feet on the way up, and the same back down. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Driggs run to highs around 73°F in June and 83°F in July, with July lows near 48°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the canyon's high point run cooler. Tie Canyon lies about half a mile away, and Old Sheep is about 1.3 miles off. Pine Creek Campground is about 2.3 miles away, and Liars Pass is about 2 miles away.
