Tie Canyon is a moderate out-and-back hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Palisades Ranger District. The trail is about 6 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 784 feet, and it rises from a low point of about 6,165 feet to a high of about 6,966 feet. The route is on natural surface, and it is open to both horses and bikes. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Driggs, at a similar elevation, show July highs around 83°F with lows near 48°F, while winter highs stay in the low 30s. Upper Tie Canyon lies about half a mile away, and Old Sheep is about a mile off. Pine Creek Campground is roughly 2.4 miles away, and Liars Pass is about 1.5 miles away.
