Shady Side is a 3.3-mile out-and-back hike on natural trail in the Ketchum Ranger District of Idaho's Sawtooth National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It is a moderate route with a one-way elevation gain of about 230 feet, starting at about 5,965 feet and reaching about 6,207 feet at the high point. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Ketchum show July highs around 80°F with lows near 45°F, while winter brings highs near 30°F and frequent snow days. Bikes are allowed on this trail. The Adam Lake Creek Connector starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Adams Gulch Trail is under a mile off. The Big Wood River, about 1.6 miles away, offers fishing, and Boundary campground sits about 3.4 miles away.
