Porcupine is an easy out-and-back hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Montpelier Ranger District. The trail is about 2.9 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 236 feet, and it rises from a low point of about 6,750 feet to a high of about 7,919 feet. The route is on natural surface, and it is open to both horses and bikes. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from June 1 through October 31. The Porcupine campground sits about 1.2 miles away, and the Minnetonka hike is about a mile off. Davis Canyon Overflow and the Davis Canyon hike are each about 1.3 miles away.
