Greenfield Flat is a hard hike in Idaho's Boise National Forest, within the Emmett Ranger District. The route is an out-and-back that climbs from about 5,690 feet to 7,728 feet, a gain of 1,813 feet over 13.2 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. That makes it a flexible option for a longer trip with gear. The climb is a steady one, and the high point at 7,728 feet sits well above the starting elevation. The route is long and steep, so plan on a full day. Poison Creek lies just 0.8 miles away, and the Division Stock Trail is 1.4 miles off. For an overnight base, Big Flat campground is about 3.2 miles away, and French Creek campground is about 4.9 miles away.
