Wilson Creek is a 13.5-mile out-and-back hike in Idaho's Boise National Forest, crossing the Cascade and Emmett Ranger Districts. The trail rises from a low point of 7,087 feet to a high of 7,748 feet, with an elevation gain of 1,119 feet, and it is rated hard. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The climb is a steady one, and the route's length and grade make it a serious outing rather than a short day on foot. Several other hikes sit close by. Campbell Creek is less than a mile away, West Mountain is about a mile off, and Skein Lake and Willow Creek are each roughly 2 miles away. For an overnight base, French Creek campground is about 3 miles from the trail.
