Gold Fork is a 4-mile out-and-back hike in the Idaho City Ranger District of Boise National Forest in Idaho, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises from about 5,235 feet to about 5,718 feet, with a total elevation gain of 478 feet, and is rated moderate. The route is on natural surface, and both horses and bikes are allowed. Moose Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and Gold Fork Summit is about half a mile off. Lodgepole Gold, a cross-country ski area, sits roughly 0.7 mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Deadwood Lodge weather station show July highs around 82°F with lows near 40°F, while winter highs stay in the low to mid 30s. Edna Creek Campground is about 2 miles away, and Crooked Rock, a climbing area, is about 3 miles off. Willow Creek Campground and the Crooked River, a canoeing spot, are both within about 5 miles.
