Four Mile is a hard out-and-back hike in Idaho's Payette National Forest, within the Krassel Ranger District. The trail stretches about 17.9 miles, with a total elevation gain of 2,916 feet, from a low point of about 5,033 feet to a high of about 8,236 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. The route is natural-surface and allows both horses and bikes. The trailhead parking is named Four Mile, and the trip is best planned as a full day or more, with time to take in the climb and the views from the high point. Nearby, Nickel Creek and Poverty Overlook Interpretive are both within about 2 miles. The South Fork Salmon River offers canoeing about 3.7 miles away, and Poverty Flat campground sits about 5 miles off.
