Forbidden Fruit is a short, easy out-and-back hike of about 2.3 miles on natural trail in the Ketchum Ranger District of Idaho's Sawtooth National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail sits at an elevation of about 6,394 feet, rising to a high point of 6,762 feet, with a total gain of 123 feet over the course of the route. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Ketchum show July highs around 80°F and lows near 45°F, with snow falling in roughly nine days each of December and January. That station sits about 870 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Bikes are allowed on this trail, but horses are not. Forbidden Fruit Trail #159 and the Serpent Trail, both mountain biking routes, lie close by. The Griffin Butte Connector hike is within a mile, and the Big Wood River offers fishing about 3.7 miles away.
