Hobbits Perch is a climbing area in the Chattooga River Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in northwest Georgia. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits about 0.1 mile from the Patriot Wall and Tall Wall climbing areas, which makes it easy to pair with those nearby crags. The climbing here is a mix of trad and sport routes, with five routes on record. Hobbit Chute is the easiest at 5.8, and the hardest is Unknown at 5.11+. Most of the routes are trad, with Next Time and Try Again both at 5.11a/b. One route is sport, and the trad ones are the ones to look at for a traditional outing. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Sautee put October highs around 68°F with lows near 47°F, and April is similar at about 69°F and 44°F. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures up high run cooler. Within a few miles are the Super Crack Area, the Tsalaki Trail and the Chunanee Falls Trail for hiking, and Dukes Creek for river fishing.
