Below the Main Face is a bouldering area in north Georgia, set within the Chattooga River Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests and on the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area. The State Department of Natural Resources manages the land. The area is a cluster of boulders, with five routes all rated V1 or V2 on the V scale. The routes are Lop Twice Climb Once and Tippers at V1, and Carentan, Replacements and Slab Ball at V2. The boulders sit close together, with The Small Wall, Below the Brick Wall and the Slab Area all about 0.1 mile away. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Toccoa weather station show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April highs around 73°F. That station sits about 370 feet lower than the boulders, so temperatures on the rock run a little cooler. Lake Russell Campground is about 7.5 miles away for an overnight stay. The Leatherwood Creek Loop and Latham Cemetary hikes are each about 1.1 miles off.
