Rocky Mountain is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Blue Ridge Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia, where it crosses the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The trail is managed by the Forest Service and runs about 3.7 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of 1,445 feet. The climb is steepest at about 1.1 miles in, where the grade reaches 27 percent, and the route starts at roughly 3,168 feet, rising to a high point of 3,695 feet. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 72°F, with July the warmest month at about 77°F. The hike is open year-round and takes about two hours to complete. Bikes and horses are not allowed, and the trail surface is natural. Andrews Cove and Anna Ruby Falls are both within about 2 miles, and A.T. Low Gap Shelter and Raven Cliff Falls lie a little farther out.
