Grassy Mtn Tower is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 3.9 miles in the Cohutta Wildlife Management Area, part of the Conasauga Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia. The State Department of Natural Resources manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced with no room for bikes or horses. The climb starts at about 3,687 feet and reaches a high point of 3,689 feet, with a total gain of 1,273 feet over the course of the round trip. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.7 miles in, where the grade reaches 17 percent. The hike is open year-round and takes about two hours to complete. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 74°F in May and 78°F in September, though that station sits well below the summit, so temperatures up high run cooler. Songbird is less than a mile away, and Lake Conasauga and Milma Creek are each within about a mile and a half. Cottonwood Patch Campground, roughly 8 miles off, offers a place to stay.
