Cohutta Overlook is a short, easy hike in the Conasauga Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia, managed by the Forest Service. The route is just under 0.1 mile long, with a total elevation gain of 33 feet, so it's a quick stop rather than a full-day outing. The trail starts at about 2,369 feet and reaches a high point of 2,424 feet, with a small drop of 17 feet along the way. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Dalton, Georgia, show October highs around 75°F with lows near 49°F, while July and August average highs of 89°F. That station sits well below the overlook, so temperatures up high run cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. Conasauga Creek, about 3.6 miles away, offers canoeing, and Rock Creek and Bear Creek Spur are both hikes roughly 3.8 miles off. For an overnight stay, Jacks River Fields Campground is about 8 miles away.
