Angel Falls is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2.2 miles in the Chattooga River Ranger District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests in north Georgia. The trail rises from a low point of 1,782 feet to a high of 2,267 feet, with a total elevation gain of 638 feet over the round trip. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.76 miles in, where the grade reaches 19 percent. The route is on natural surface and allows bikes, and the Forest Service manages the land. The trip takes about an hour, and the trail is open year-round. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 71°F with lows near 47°F, and April highs around 70°F. That station sits about 300 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run a little cooler. Rabun Beach is just 0.3 miles away, and Rabun Beach Recreation Area and Lake Rabun Beach Recreation Area are both within a mile. For paddling, the Soquee River is about 6.8 miles off.
