Slabs and Cave is a bouldering area in Mianus River Park in Connecticut, about 0.1 mile from the Green Egg Boulder and 0.4 mile from the Mianus Park climbing area. The park's other climbing spots, including the Entrance Outcropping and the Old Mill Lane Boulder Field, sit within a short walk, and the Green Loop hike starts just 0.2 mile away. The area is a cluster of boulders rather than a single climb. Fifteen routes are listed, all bouldering, with grades ranging from V0-1 to V4. The easiest are Buzz and Arrêtez, both V1, and the hardest is Heelios at V4. The routes are close together, so it's easy to string several together in one visit. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Stamford run from highs around 72°F in May to about 76°F in September, with July the warmest month at around 85°F. Winter is cold, with January highs near 38°F. The Green Loop and Laurel Trail are the closest hikes, and the Indian Mill Trail is about 0.7 mile away.
