Southern Loop is a bouldering area in New York, about 1.6 miles from the community of Sarles Corners. It sits among a cluster of climbing and hiking spots, with Trudeau Boulders just 0.1 mile away and the Western Loop hike 0.2 mile off. The Westchester Wilderness Walk/Zofnass Family Preserve is 0.7 mile away, and the Old Farmland Trail is 1.3 miles out. The area is a bouldering destination, with four routes all rated as boulders. The grades run from V1 to V3, with Auburn Arete and Snowball Earth at V1 and Auburn Beauty and Ice Age at V3. That makes it a compact, low-commitment stop for climbers looking to warm up or round out a day on the rock. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Stamford, Connecticut, show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, with July peaking near 85°F. The station sits a few hundred feet lower than the area, so temperatures here run slightly cooler.
