Scovill Southern Loop is a short, easy loop in Connecticut, about half a mile long and rising from a low point of 16 feet to a high of 89 feet. The nearest town is Maromas, about 1.5 miles away. The route is a loop, and the climb is gentle. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.42 miles, with a grade of 10 percent. The total elevation gain is 32 feet, so the walk stays low and flat for the most part. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Meriden run to highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September, with July the warmest month at about 84°F. The Scovill Northern Loop and Quary View High Trail both start within about a tenth of a mile. Hillside Boulders, a climbing area, is about a mile away, and Higganum Creek offers canoeing about 2 miles off.
