Big Bad Wolf Boulder is a bouldering area in Connecticut, about 1.5 miles from the town of Abington. It sits right next to Mashamoquet Brook State Park, just 0.2 miles away, and is part of the cluster of climbing and hiking spots around that park. The area has five bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale. The easiest is Matt Sucks at V3, and the hardest is Little Red Riding Hood at V9-10. Big Bad Wolf is a V8, and Flow Backwards is a V6. The routes are all boulders, so there is no climbing on ropes here. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Hampton run to highs around 80°F in July, with lows near 60°F. Winters are cold, with January highs around 36°F. Mashamoquet Brook State Park is the closest climbing area, and the Blue Trail and Mashamoquet Brook Park Trail are both within a mile for hiking. Natchaug State Forest, about 2 miles away, offers more climbing.
