Yellow Trail is a short, easy loop hike in Connecticut, about half a mile from Beseck Lake. The trail is 1.2 miles long, with a total climb of 344 feet and a total descent of 341 feet, so it's a low-elevation, low-impact outing. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.7 miles in, where the grade reaches 17%. The trail starts at 424 feet and reaches a high point of 713 feet before returning to nearly the same elevation. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Meriden run to highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September, though that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. Nearby, Cliffside Trail is about 1.3 miles away, and Laurel Grove Brook Trail and Little Falls Trail are both within 3 miles. Climbers can head to Chauncey Peak, about 3.5 miles off.
