The Fifth Connecticut is an easy point-to-point hike of about 0.56 miles in Gallows Hill Natural Area, in Connecticut. The route rises from roughly 544 feet to about 613 feet, with a total gain of 82 feet, and the steepest stretch comes around 0.4 miles in at about a 10% grade. The climb is short enough to fit into a half hour or so. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Danbury airport weather station, which sits a few hundred feet lower, run to highs of about 69°F in May and 74°F in September. Several other routes lie close by. The Noose is about 0.2 miles away, The Drummer and Yovan Trail are each about 0.4 miles away, and the climbing areas at Slugs & Crickets Block are about 1.3 miles off.
