The Drummer is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about half a mile long and rising roughly 100 feet from its starting point. It is a point-to-point route, and the climb is back-loaded, with the steepest stretch at the beginning. The high point is about 628 feet, and the route ends a little lower, at around 503 feet. The nearest town is Lonetown, about a mile away. The hike is part of a cluster of trails in the area, and it pairs easily with other outings close by. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. The Yovan Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and The Noose and The Fifth Connecticut are both within half a mile. Climbers can head to Slugs & Crickets Block, about 1.3 miles off.
