The Dan Beard Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about a mile long and roughly 150 feet of elevation gain from start to finish. It runs from a low point of about 325 feet to a high of about 487 feet, with the steepest stretch at around 0.66 miles in, where the grade reaches about 21%. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the nearest town is Redding, about a mile away. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. The hike takes about half an hour, and it sits close to several other trails. The Reeve Biggers Trail is about 0.2 miles away, and the Turkington Falls Loop and Old Field are each about 0.3 miles off. Climbers can find the Slugs & Crickets Block about 2.3 miles away.
