Mashapaug Pond View Trail is a 4.6-mile hike in Connecticut, about 1.6 miles from the town of Union. The trail rises from 777 feet to 918 feet, with a total elevation gain of 510 feet, and is rated easy. The climb starts steeply, with a 15% grade at the beginning, before easing into a gentler route. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 72°F, with July the warmest month at about 81°F. The trail sits close to several other routes. Bigelow Pond Loop Trail and Ridge Trail both start about 0.1 mile away, and East Ridge Trail is about 0.3 mile off. Paddlers can reach the Quinebaug River, about 5 miles away, and Westville Recreation Area offers camping roughly 6 miles out.
