Viewpoint Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about half a mile long and rising just 36 feet from start to finish. It is a point-to-point route, and the climb is flat, with the high point at 616 feet and the low at 566 feet. The nearest town is Roseland Park, about 1.3 miles away. The trail is rated easy, and the route is mostly flat, with the steepest stretch at about 0.06 miles in, where the grade reaches 7 percent. Bikes are allowed. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at West Thompson Lake show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 73°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. Nearby, Ravenelle Ponds Loop and the Shoreline Trail are both within about a mile and a half. West Thompson Lake Campground is about 2.1 miles away, and paddlers can head to Muddy Brook, roughly 2.3 miles off.
