Bigelow Pond Loop Trail is a 1.4-mile loop in Connecticut, about 1.6 miles from the town of Union. The route gains just 21 feet of elevation, so it is an easy walk with only a small climb, and the trail is short enough to fit into a short outing. The loop rises from a low point of 642 feet to a high of 669 feet, with the steepest stretch coming at about 0.14 miles in, where the grade reaches 18%. It is a low-impact, low-effort hike that works well as a standalone walk or as a link in a longer trail network. For timing, late spring through early fall is the most comfortable stretch. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show September highs around 72°F and lows near 51°F, while July highs reach about 81°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 35°F. The trail sits close to several other routes. Mashapaug Pond View Trail and Ridge Trail both start within about a tenth of a mile, and East Ridge Trail is about 0.3 miles away. Farther out, the Quinebaug River offers canoeing roughly 5 miles away.
