Natchaug Trail is a hard hike in Connecticut, about a mile from the town of Westford. It is a point-to-point route of roughly 17 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 1,450 feet and a total loss of about 1,669 feet. The trail is steady in its climb and descent, and the steepest stretch comes around mile 10, where the grade reaches about 14 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Staffordville show May highs around 68°F and September highs around 73°F, while July averages about 81°F and January highs sit near 34°F. The trail is not open to bikes or horses. For more time on foot, Langhammer Trail and Rankin Trail both lie about 3 miles away. Paddlers can head to the Still River, about 4 miles off, and Charlie Brown Campground is about 5 miles away.
