Ives is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about half a mile long and rising roughly 190 feet from a starting point near 688 feet to a high point of 814 feet. The route is a point-to-point walk, and the steepest stretch comes early, around 0.2 miles in, with a grade of about 20 percent. The nearest town is Miry Brook, about 1.6 miles away. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. That station sits several hundred feet lower than the hike's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The hike takes about half an hour. The Ives Trail Greenway and Eureka Lake Path both lie about 0.9 miles away, and the Still River offers canoeing about 2.4 miles off. Climbers can head to King Boulder, about 2.5 miles away.
