Blue Trail is a 4.5-mile loop in Connecticut's Birge Pond & The Hoppers Area, on city land. The route starts at about 574 feet and reaches a high point of 652 feet, with a total elevation gain of 473 feet. The trail is rated easy, and the climb is spread out, with the steepest stretch at about 2.2 miles in, where the grade reaches 19 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Burlington show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 75°F, while July averages about 84°F and January highs sit near 36°F. The trail makes an easy pairing with the Orange Trail and Green Trail, both about 0.2 miles away, and the Yellow Trail is about 0.4 miles off. Climbers can head to Petro Cliffs, roughly 2.7 miles away.
