Brush Creek Trail is a 3.5-mile cross-country ski route in Colorado's Gunnison Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. The trail rises about 1,500 feet from its low point of 10,951 feet to a high of 12,344 feet, with the steepest stretch at 24% grade around the 1.6-mile mark. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land. The trail sits at a high elevation, with a start at 11,032 feet. It makes for a day on the move rather than a short outing, with the climb to the high point and the descent back down each taking about 1.7 miles. Winter is the natural season for cross-country skiing here, and the trail sits about 0.1 mile from Brush Creek Ski, which makes it easy to pair the two. For an overnight, Campsite CC20 and Campsite CC19 are both within 3 miles. The Double Top Trail, a hike about 0.7 miles away, is a short addition to a ski day.
