Mica Basin is a climbing area in northern Colorado's Mount Zirkel Wilderness, part of the Hahns Peak-Bears Ears Ranger District of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and because the area lies inside designated wilderness, climbers should plan for wilderness rules across the surrounding terrain. Several other destinations sit close by. Red Dirt Pass and Gilpin are hikes about 3 miles away. Seedhouse Group Site, a campground in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, is roughly 5 miles off, and the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness climbing area lies about 7 miles away.
