Twisted Ankle is an easy hike of about 2 miles in the Sulphur Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, so it works for riders as well as hikers. The route is an out-and-back that starts at about 9,477 feet and reaches a high point of 9,477 feet, with a total climb of about 1,078 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.57 miles in, with a grade of about 14 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Fraser weather station, which sits about 900 feet lower, show July highs around 77°F and lows near 38°F. Winter is harsh, with January highs around 31°F and lows near -1°F. The Ditch and Arrow hikes both start about 0.4 miles away. Idlewild Campground is about 2 miles off, and the Fraser River offers canoeing about 3 miles away.
